Description

Creating a handmade vase using the churros technique.
You will learn how to create your own handmade ceramic vase. The workshop will be held in Zarautz.
With the churros technique, we begin by rolling strips of clay, similar to “churros.” These are layered and shaped to form the basic structure of the vase, in the desired shape and size. Due to the way the clay churros are rolled and stacked, pieces created using this technique tend to have a more organic texture. Irregularities in shape and texture can add a distinctive charm and a sense of authenticity. Due to the flexibility of the clay in this technique, it is possible to create more complex and organic designs.
This technique immerses us in a meditative state, where concentration becomes inherent to the process, thanks to the repetitive gesture of joining the clay from the top churro to the bottom layer, which keeps our mind focused and allows us to fully enjoy the creative process. It is an excellent way to dedicate time to artistic creation. We’ll then fire them to finish them. We’ll let you know in about two or three weeks so you can come pick up your artwork.
