– WHITE CERAMIC BOTTLE
Container
kind
This bottle, made of white clay, was created on a potter’s wheel.
After modeling and when the clay was leather hard (partially hardened and still with a certain degree of humidity) marks were created on the surface with a wire grid and a sharp object. A black engobe (a mixture of clay and oxides of manganese, cobalt and iron) was then applied and left to dry. Once dry, the surface was scraped to remove the engobe from the outer layer and leave only the holes previously created with color. It was baked at 950ºC, then glazed with a transparent glaze and fired a second time at 980ºC.
